Reflections From The Let There Be Challenge

Text reads "LET THERE BE" on a pastel gradient background with "A 40 Day Challenge" in smaller font. Calm and inspirational mood.

As the 2024 Let There Be Challenge draws to a close, we, as guest writers, are sharing our reflections from this journey. While we’ve each walked through the challenge in our own way, we all agree on the powerful impact of declaring God’s Word over our lives and situations.

Guest writer Lexi: Let patience have its work

Wow, can you believe it? The 2024 Let There Be Challenge is almost over! This year marks my second time participating, and I can honestly say I approached it with much more intention than last year. I made sure to look up every scripture ahead of time, having them ready to go by Day 1. Reading the scriptures daily ignited a deeper desire to understand them in context, so I began reading entire chapters instead of just isolated verses.

However, there were times when I realized that not every verse I had chosen aligned perfectly with the declarations I wanted to make. Some scriptures didn’t fit the context as I had originally thought, and this left me feeling discouraged. I wondered, Will my words decree the wrong things?

Through all this, the most beautiful thing was that God met me in that place of uncertainty. He reminded me that, above all, He rewards those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6) He's more concerned with me taking baby steps and growing in the things of God than for me to fully grasp a concept the first time around. This challenge has helped me grow in grace and is teaching me how to be patient with myself. Growth doesn’t happen overnight, and I don’t have to see every prayer answered or declaration fulfilled by December 31st to know that God's going to do it. I have to let patience have it’s perfect work.

In these 40 days, our mindsets and situations may not have changed dramatically. But I can feel the changes happening within my heart, my mind and my circumstances. I hope you’re experiencing that same transformation.

My parting thought for us comes from James 1:2-4 (ERV):“My brothers and sisters, you will have many kinds of trouble. But this gives you a reason to be very happy. You know that when your faith is tested, you learn to be patient in suffering. If you let patience work in you, the end result will be good. You will be mature and complete. You will be all that God wants you to be.”

Guest Writer Pam: God is intentional about us

As I’ve journeyed through this challenge, I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on how intentional God is with His words and promises. It’s been humbling to realize that what He has already spoken over my life is not only true but actively working. Looking back on 2024, I can literally trace how God’s words have manifested in ways I didn’t expect.

This realization has deepened my awe and reverence for God. His words are never empty. His thoughts are not haphazard. He is intentional, deliberate, and precise—even with what He doesn’t say. I was struck by the thought that when it comes to God’s will, plan, and purpose for me, He doesn’t need a dress rehearsal. There’s no margin for error with Him. He doesn’t make mistakes. He is well able to bring to pass every word He has spoken over my life.

And here’s the key: I have a part to play, which begins with believing what God has already said. It’s only when I truly believe what God has said that I can step out in great faith, knowing that He is backing me every step of the way.

Guest writer Bree: Your Words Matter

One of the most profound lessons I’ve learned through this challenge is the sheer power of words. God created the universe with His words, and as His children, we’ve been entrusted with that same authority. Our words are not just empty expressions-they hold the power to shape our lives, families, and futures.

I’ve been reflecting on the curse Jacob spoke over Reuben and the disastrous effects on his generations (which Dr Bri taught about here), as well as Noah’s curse over his son Ham’s descendants (Genesis 9:25-27) These accounts serve as a powerful reminder that our words have the potential to bless or curse, to build up or tear down. As parents, leaders, and believers, we must be intentional with what we say, especially in moments of heightened emotion. Our words can influence not only our own lives but the generations that follow.

Watch Your Mouth: The words we speak aren't just casual expressions; they are weapons in the spiritual realm. They are tools for walking in the authority that God has given us. As we continue to declare God’s promises over our lives, let’s remember that our words carry the authority of heaven. They are not empty phrases; they are declarations that align us with God’s will and have the power to shape the world around us.

As we wrap up this year’s Let There Be Challenge, we're reminded of the journey we've each taken in our own way, yet all of us growing together in faith and understanding of the power of our words. We’ve learned that our words carry weight. Just as God created the universe with His spoken word, we've been given the authority to declare His Will and His promises over our lives.

According to the Hebraic Calendar, we're now living in the decade of the mouth (pay), and more than ever, we must be mindful of the words we speak. Let us remember the warning of James 3:1-12, which reminds us of the power of the tongue. Our words are seeds, and while we may not see immediate results, we trust that God is at work. The harvest will come in His perfect timing.

We pray that you continue to grow in grace, patience, and the power of God’s Word as you speak life into your world.
