Dear Friend,
While the new inhabitants of Babylon purposed to use their imagination to work against God, I think God's response to them reveals something powerful about ourselves. We are made in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:27), which means we have the power and authority to create what we imagine. The act of imagining is the your essential habit for advancement in life.
In my Kingdom series teaching, I always remind listeners that we have authority on the earth since it's our kingdom. Though the scripture doesn't use the word "authority" here, we do see the principle at work. God scattered the tower builders because they decided to use their power and authority to work against Him. He admits that they will be successful unless He hinders their inability to understand one another.
And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. Genesis 11:6
How did the tower builders get so powerful? They were made in the image of God. When God created man in Genesis 1, He gave us dominion over the earth, which is why He gave us a body to exercise that dominion in Genesis 2. Since we are made in the "image" of God and have the legal authority to bring forth in the earth, this lets us know that our imaginations, which are the starting point of anything, including thoughts, are powerful.
So, what is your imagination? In a general sense, it is your creative ability. When the scripture tells us that God framed the world in Hebrews 11:3, it points to His creative ability and the world's response. God is a spirit, and He spoke things into existence. When He speaks, creation responds. The fact that He could speak the world into existence but then had to form what He said lets us know that creation hears and answers in images. You have this same ability. You were made in God's image.
Whatever you imagine to do, you can succeed at it, which is why your imagination is so important. Unfortunately, our Western school system intentionally teaches children not to imagine. Teachers are trained to remove students' creative ability to transform them into better societal workers rather than creators. Teachers instruct students to color inside the lines. They tell children they can only be one thing when they grow up. Our school systems attempt to kill the creative ability in us at a young age so that we won't disrupt world systems and emerge as true sons and daughters of God. Rearing in the Babylonian system was never God's true desire for you.
Your imagination is your way out. Your imagination is how you will create wealth. Your imagination is how you will begin to think your way forward. Your imagination is powerful. I know it might have been a long time since you last dreamed with God, but be intentional about it this month. He sees you as a co-creator and a partaker in His divine nature. You can have and live an abundant life this year, but it must align with His plans and purposes for you.
So, my challenge to you this quarter is to begin dreaming. Ask God for the courage to imagine again. Ask Him to put His plans and purposes in the forefront of your mind and to renew the creative ability He has wired within you. You don't have to stay the same. Imagine your way forward.
You are a co-creator.
